With this expansion in our product line you may experience some changes in your services. These changes may include:

  • Discontinued support of the following third party products by 1/31/2012:
    • Carbonite – Recommended replacement product: DCo Solutions Backup
    • Mozy – Recommended replacement product: DCo Solutions Backup
    • AVG – Recommended replacement product: Microsoft Security Essentials
    • Norton AV – Recommended replacement product: Microsoft Security Essentials
    • OpenOffice – Recommended replacement product: Libre Office/MS Office 2010

Why are we discontinuing support for these products?

DCo Solutions strives to make your IT worries a thing of the past. In order to succeed we must constantly be proactive – be it against viruses or old software. We designed our own backup solution to be more reliable and efficient for our customers. We’ve localized the servers for the backup solution so the data is never under the control of a third party. In our own testing, Microsoft Security Essentials performed the best out of any antivirus software, resulting in both a reduction of infections and usage of system resources – this means your computer will be better protected while not being slowed down by the antivirus software. Finally, OpenOffice was largely discontinued by the community that controlled it after a corporate buyout. Libre Office is the next generation in what would have been the OpenOffice line.

  • New remote support software
    • A technician will schedule an on site visit at no charge to you to install the new remote support software.

Why new remote software?

In an effort to provide better service and more value we switched to a more feature-rich remote support tool. However, we recommend pre-installation of all remote software for maximum ease of use for both you and us. To help ease this transition, we are offering a free on site visit for a technician to install the remote software. Each installation takes about 5 minutes per machine including installation and testing. Customers that switch from unmanaged IT to managed IT (or vice versa) will not have to reinstall remote software packages.
